We’re recruiting for a Foodbank Manager

 

Part time – 20 hours a week.
£12,000 per year (£21,000 FTE).
Plus pension.

 

Nantwich Foodbank is a life changing service that provides emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of the Trussell Trust, a nationwide network of foodbanks working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Now more than ever, people living in Nantwich need our help. As well as providing over 13,000 meals a year, we offer a dedicated support service to help people in financial difficulty.

We’re looking for a Foodbank Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the foodbank, helping us to be here for people when they need us.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, this varied role includes partnership management, overseeing the warehouse and distribution operations, plus leading, supporting and training our team of staff and volunteers.

We need a ‘people’s person’ who has a passion for helping those in need. Someone with excellent communication skills who can promote the work of the foodbank and develop effective relationships with our network of partners.

Foodbank Manager Board of Trustees 20 hours per week

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, our Foodbank Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the foodbank, helping us to be here for people when they need us.

Main duties of the role

Partnership management

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with referring agencies.
  • Be the face of the foodbank and key contact for schools, community groups and charities looking to support us.
  • Foster a close working relationship with the Churches Together Network.
  • Maintain the ongoing relationship with the Trussell Trust, lead the annual audit by the trust and act as the main point of contact for other foodbanks.
  • Represent the foodbank at multi-agency working groups to support poverty alleviation.
  • Promote the work of the foodbank. Ensuring clear and regular communications to stakeholders. Presentations to interested parties and managing PR and supporting the media volunteer to ensure the website and social media channels are updated.

 

Operational management

  • Report to the Board of Trustees on performance and operations to support the development and management of the foodbank
  • Work with the Storeroom Manager to effectively manage the storeroom operations and distribution.
  • Carry out regular risk assessments and ensure health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Research and identify sources of income and work with trustees on grant and bid applications.
  • Ensure all Trussell Trust policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are fulfilled and report any concerns through to the appropriate channels.

 

Personnel management

  • Effectively manage and support the Storeroom Manager.
  • Recruit, train, support and lead the volunteers.
  • Carryout 121’s and yearly appraisals for volunteers and employees.
  • Set targets and oversee the work of a CAB worker who provides financial guidance to clients we refer.
