Welcome to our new manager, Damien Gear

27th April 2021

Welcome to our new manager, Damien Gear Since arriving at the Foodbank early in February, Damien has been busy getting to know volunteers, creating new partnerships and getting his feet firmly stuck under his desk. It has been quite the baptism of fire for him. Damien comes to us with a solid background in finance and has in the past run his own finance company. He moved to Paris with his wife and two sons for a few years. Over the years Damien has been involved in a number of senior volunteer roles, bringing both director and charity experience to us at our foodbank. While talking about the new role, Damien said “I’m really enjoying working with all the Team at Nantwich Foodbank; they are such a dedicated group of people. I am inspired that they are all working to support people in our community.” As an individual who has spent time as a stay-at-home dad for a while, Damien understands the vital role of a family unit and the importance of ensuring that families don’t go hungry. “Not having the basic essentials has a fundamental impact on already stressed parents. Kids should not have to face the undue burden of worrying about where their next meal comes from. I really am looking forward to being able to meet more people in groups when it is safer to do so and gettting out and about in the coming months”, he concluded.
